ANCIENT STAGIRA
Homeland of Aristoteles, the great philosopher of antiquity, teacher of Alexander the Great.
It is located approximately 500 m southeaster of the village of Olympiada, above a small peninsula, that is
called “Liotopi”.
THE CAVE OF PETRALONA
It is located 1 km from the village of Petralona. It opened to the public in 1979.
Dr. Aris Poulianos, an internationally knowned paleoanthropologist, discovered the first signs of the
Archanthropus of Petralona, the oldest remains from the European ancestors, which date some 700.000
years back.
ANCIENT OLYNTHOS
Olynthos was an ancient city in Halkidiki, built on a fertile plain at the beginning of the peninsula of Pallene (
known as Kassandra today ), overlooking the Toroneos Gulf, about 60 stadia ( ancient metric system , aprox
11,5 km ) from Potidea and 4 km from the sea.
